4 - Operators
Variables are a way to store data, but how do you use or change that data? That is where operators come in. Operators allow you to use and change the data store in variables. There are a variety of different operators that have different functionalities.
Assignment operators manipulate the content stored in a variable. There are a variety of assignment operators with the most common being the '=' operator.
Arithmetic operators are your basic math operations. You are probably familiar with most of the math operations, but there may be a few you have not heard of before.
Relational operators compare two values, and return a boolean value. You will often use these in conditional statements.
Bitwise operators are similar to logical operators, but act bit by bit. If you are not familiar with binary numbers, they are essentially a sequence of 1's and 0's.
Order of Operations
So far we have only dealt with running one operation at a time. However, the reality is that you will probably use multiple operators in a single statement. Listed below are the order of operations starting with the highest precedence on top and going to the lowest precedence.
